My neighbors used to have a small forest in their backyard that they have just removed, but have left some near the back of their property that adjoins mine. These are mostly very tall tulip trees where the branches don't even start until about 15-20 feet up.
My concern is that now we have a set of 50-60 foot trees that have never really had to take the full brunt of a northbound wind without 10 other trees to protect them. They range from 25-40 feet from my house.
I'm sort of at a loss for what I can even do about this to mitigate the danger of my house getting smashed at some point. I'm in NJ, so we do have some 60-70mph gusts from time to time.
Any suggestions as to (1) how worried I should be and (2) how to navigate doing something about a danger that seems kind of theoretical?
