Vanderwolf Pine Going Brown on New Growth

Hi, I have planted 3 Vanderwolf Pine in Zone 6 and they are doing very well for the most part, but I was wondering about the single one that is struggling. Is it because it is the closest to mature Maple trees? Or is it because it has co-dominant leaders from the trunk? Any advice us appreciated. New growth only is turning brown, we are just coming out of a 38 day dry period over the late Summer, so was it simply turning off the new growth? Thanks in advance.
