Well I asked my gardener to prune these bottom branches of the adolescent tree because I did some light research suggesting it would help vertical growth. He misunderstood and thought I wanted the tree entirely removed (why?) and when I came home I freaked out that it was gone. He said not to worry because he still โhad the treeโ and the result of him returning it is the second picture. This tree was about 2 years old at the time. Should I keep it as is and hope it grows or remove it and start with a new sapling? Weโre in Zone 9, Central California.
