How accurate is this statement about US tree abundance? Are there really more trees in the US now than in the 1970s? Quite a sweeping claim, no?

It's a fun one for sure... I've been a carpenter for 25 years, thought I knew everything about wood... Until a few years ago when I bought some heavily forested acreage and a little sawmill... Took some forestry classes... I think the New York DEC is really doing some good work. They really focus on making sure the harvesting process does as little damage to the forest floor and the waterways. They will loan you bridges... Lots of really practical advice from people who basically live in the woods everyday.

Same with New York! Trees are making a comeback, baby!
