Apologies in advance if this is not the right place to ask. I have a massive sweetgum in my front yard. It's part of why I bought the house. But, of course, it produces metric tons of gumballs. I was told to have it topped but when I started researching that 1, it looked terrible, and 2, and most importantly, it said it could kill the tree or leave it open to disease. When I look for alternatives it just says consult an arborist. Are there other options? I'm afraid I'm going to pay someone to come out just say there isn't really anything to be done.
