Guys, need some help from you all. Been throwing the idea of getting a 6.5 Grendel barrel to repurpose my AR15 into a longer range shooter and possible hunting rifle.
I have been considering getting one of Bear Creeks 6.5 Grendel barrels in either 18 or 20”. I know they don’t have a stellar reputation but I’m also going to be building this upper myself so there shouldn’t be any issues like I’ve seen of their complete uppers as long as I do my part and get the right bolt. Not expecting match grade accuracy or anything like that, just looking to put some holes in paper and shoot some steel maybe to 600 yards or so. I’m also not a hand loader so I’ll be shooting factory ammo through it.
Basically I’m asking if you all think it’s worth the trouble to get into the caliber or should I stick with .223/5.56.
Thanks
