Low efficiency predator

I've been imagining this Guppy tank for awhile now, they procreate so quickly I thought I'd dabble in naturally selective breeding. I've no interest in deciding how I want them to look, I'm interested in creating an environment and seeing what road they go down.
But in order for it to work, the tank requires a predator(s). But they can't be too good at it nor excessively voracious.
Honestly not certain if this is the place for this. Sorry if it's offensive, meant no disrespect
