I have a Samsung front-load washing machine (WF50K7500AV/A2) purchased late 2017. Recently the machine has been making very loud rumbling noises during the rinse/spin cycle. The machine is located in the basement and I can hear it loudly from the second floor with all doors closed in-between.
Today I had a technician from an Samsung Authorized Service Center (recommended by Samsung's online chat) check it out. He suspected it could be the bearings or perhaps a loose object in the drum. The machine was disassembled (at a charge of $300) and there were no loose objects found. After reassembling the machine, the technician operated the machine and heard the sound I described. He agreed that it was extremely loud and unlike anything he has heard before.
My question is, what could the problem possibly be, and if it is the bearings, would it be covered under the Direct Drive Warranty? From the comment /u/itseitherthisorwork made in this thread, it seems like the bearings should be covered?
Bearing going out as you mentioned that prior to this it started "winding up" very loudly. If it is a bad bearing, your unit has 5 year warranty on it's direct drive. It should be covered.
I'm in Canada, and here are the notes from the technician that visited today.
Cx complain washer making loud noises, check led the counter weight, the drum, the motor. On the stator was small crack. When I spin the drum by my hand it was making loud noises so I told to cx it can be something between two drums or it can be bearings and I can't tell them for sure, to check it I have to open the drum and it will cost 300$ cx tell me ok let's check. Open the drum and I can't see nothing inside so most probably it's bearings. Install all back. Collect 339$
Thanks for the assistance!
