While installing my 3 prong electric cable to my new Frigidaire electric range, one of the 3 electric terminals was pretty stiff but I didn't think much of it.
While reinstalling the screw after attaching the electric wire, there was a bit of upwards force from the cable being super stiff and not quite properly bent on the middle wire and the screw went in a little crooked. I got about 80% of the way there and finally could tell by the tightness and the angle was now obviously not 90.
Got the screw back out but there's a lot of material embedded in 2 full threads in the middle of the screw and I'm assuming the terminals internal threads are cross threaded.
Got a tap and die set and the pitch gauge tells me it's a 28 tpi and I determined the screw is a #12 so I try to find a 12-28 machine screw with a hex cap and....even on McMaster Carr this screw doesn't exist.
I can get a 12-28 tap but the screw is only about 1cm of threads so using a die on it isn't going to work.
Called Frigidaire customer service and after about 20 levels of IVR it gives me no options but I didn't have time to try to just get someone on the phone.
What now? Please help!
