Stinky clothes because dryer flame won't stay lit
Post Body

We have an older stacked washer and dryer, Maytag LSG7806aae. A few weeks ago I noticed that the dryer would not shut off when the timer was set to "intelligent dry", it would stay on until someone shut it off.

A few days ago I noticed that all of the clothes coming out of the dryer were still very damp and starting to stink.

There are only two screws to remove the front panel of the dryer, so we took it off and noticed that while it's running the flame will light and only stay on for about 10 seconds, then shuts off and comes back on for another few seconds but it's definitely not heating the dryer properly.

I called the local repair shop, and they told me it's most likely a vent issue but the vents look very clean.

The big problem is that the dryer is built into a cabinet so it's impossible to access the back side where apparently there is another vent. The vent on the outside is clear.

From reading online it seems like it could be multiple issues, hi-limit fuse, thermal fuse, coil, flame sensor, etc.

The repair shop said they won't be able to come until next week and I would really like to dry my clothes, especially the stinky ones. Is there a good place to start to check, maybe an easy fix?
