I’m not a complete apple hater, I use an iphone and have some of their products. The tech they make works fine, and although it is obviously limited in a way that android is not, it all works as advertised and that’s what I like about it. I’m not a hater of the vision pro, I think that the technology is amazing. Hardware wise it is actually one of the most impressive VR headsets to come to the consumer market. Their software is very polished and the hardware is obviously very high end and powerful. Now that being said I have been keeping up to date with the VP through forums and tech channels and I just have to say that all the VP is good for is consuming media, and that is about 95% of what all people online seem to be using it for. It is advertised as being the ultimate productivity machine since you are essentially able to bring a multi monitor setup with you anywhere. And while this is true, most people who are doing lots of work on their computers already have a multi monitor setup at home. Sure you can have multiple screens in front of you in a cafe, but honestly who the fuck is doing that much hardcore work in public. But is it even super necessary that I am able to sit in a coffee shop and be able to edit a video while checking emails and scrolling twitter all at once? Obviously not. I think that being able to fully immerse yourself into virtual spaces and be able to fully interact with the simulated environments is the biggest draw of VR. But of course apple doesn’t want you to do that, they say the VP is mostly for work. So it seems like a majority of people who have it just use it as a cool way to watch movies. And I’m sure the experience is fantastic, but it is nothing but an expensive media consumption device.

Unless you watch movies on it, like I do. Having a theater in my house is pretty useful.
