I use a MacBook Pro from 2012ish (not entirely sure of the year because it hasn't been mine the whole time) with OS X Yosemite.
Sometimes (especially on Excel but I've seen it happen on other apps too), I'll be scolling side-to-side on my keypad when it goes too far. The window will be stuck off to the side. When this happens, it is possible to use keyboard commands to force-quit the app, but I can't click on anything, and force-quitting doesn't do any good. I must force shut down my computer.
What's going on? Is there any way to prevent this or a better way to fix it?
