When connected via USB on Macbook Air, iPhone is recognised by iTunes program but not showing as Drive on "Finder"

I have updated software and restarted both the Macbook Air and the iPhone multiple times today, but, the same thing happens: when I plug in my iPhone into my Macbook Air it never shows up under Finder program I need to access the files on it without having to go by iTunes yet it seems only iTunes recognised the device.
Any other fixes?
