How will Apple Music streaming to the watch work?

Does anyone have clarity around exactly what setup will be needed to make this work? I know they announced apple music streaming as a feature of Watch OS 4 ("coming soon") but then also highlighted it as a feature for the Cellular watch model.
My question is, will apple music streaming work over familiar wifi (no phone via bluetooth) like some features work now after knowing a faimliar wifi connection? Like this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204562
Or do you absolutely have to have a cellular watch to stream music while not connected to your phone?
