Hey all!
Small but nice update today that addresses a few things.
- 🧟 Fixes a bug where blocked users could still show up in comments due to a tweak in the Reddit API
- 🎥 Fixes a crash that could occur when downloading GIFs, as well as increases their quality in some cases
- 🦝 Adds Oliver the festive Christmas raccoon as a new Pixel Pal option to go on garbage related Redditing adventures with you (also available in the separate Pixel Pals app)
- 🎁 Christmas sale on Apollo Ultra Lifetime. A bunch of folks after Black Friday requested another sale around Christmas because people often get iTunes gift cards for Christmas, so here you are. Same deal as the Black Friday sale, will only be available around Christmas. Based on the feedback from the last update, this sale now has a "Do Not Show Again" button, and a more clear "Close" button.
Had hoped to finish up an update I've been working on for awhile with this update (1.15), but it's proved more difficult to get right than I thought. Basically adding the highly-requested drafts and account-specific favorites, but wanted to make them sync over iCloud to all your devices automatically. This uses CloudKit and has been a fair bit of work (network syncing is hard and has a lot of edge cases, and I want to lay a foundation for further cloud syncing), but if you want to follow my daily adventures of yelling at clouds you can follow me on Twitter or Mastodon.

Can you reply with a screen recording showing how to make it show repeatedly? I’ve had zero luck.

For what it’s worth, you’re correct. At this point I’ve built the Pixel Pals foundation in such a way that adding a new character to it isn’t much work, and Pixel Pals has caused the largest uplift in Apollo’s downloads/revenue in years (and stats were already great), to the extent that the separate Pixel Pals app for the last 2 months has received more downloads and made more revenue than Apollo itself (with some exceptions, like Black Friday sales).
So if I can focus the vast majority of my time on building Reddit features like saved item categories or CloudKit integration through drafts and account specific favorites, while occasionally taking an evening to add a fun new animal for a lot of folks to great return, that’s time well spent. I’ve learned though that over the years folks assume any two features take the same amount of time to develop.
