Season 2 start date

I grinded out the rest of season 1 thinking since it ends today that means season 2 begins today too. Nope. Simple google search to destroy my dreams so question is why the hell would there be 2 weeks between seasons? Feels to me like a lot of ppl will feel like they’re playing for nothing in those 2 weeks and just leave the game. Especially those already level 100. Any logic behind this or is this just the latest of missteps by respawn?
