With apex elite being temporary, and ranked mode confirmed, let's make ranked mode better.

Apex elite was a good base of an idea. People wanted separate environments and a reward for skill. The normal queue has overall less skill level, and the elite queue is full of decent players. Everyone wins right? I know apex elite is temporary but they are releasing a ranked mode and I don't want the result to be similar

Well, the problem being the eligibility. When you rely of time survived as the determining stat, people want to fight less. Suddenly, the structure changes from playing the game, to hiding from the game. Naturally, people hide, because they want to win.

Where have we seen this before? Release of the game, xp grinders. Half the game players would camp ring and hide to grind xp for rewards since time survived was the determining stat for xp. The same is happening here.

If a players goal is to get apex elite streaks for their bling, they have two options.

A) Be very good at the game

Or B) Hide and avoid all fights to make top 5.

One of those is obviously much harder than the other.

If you get into a fight, there are two outcomes. Either you die, in which case your match is over and you likely didn't get top 5, or you win. And if you win, there's a high chance the surrounding gunfire attracts a squad or more to finish you off. Not very good odds of making it to top 5.

I could absolutely, if I wanted to, make a 100 apex elite streak by hiding with no gun on the ring corners. It'd be boring as shit, but easy and very doable. But nobody likes that.

Suggestion? Ditch the requirement. Develop an algorithm that generates a point value to damage done, revives, and map coverage to time survived. If you win a game, regardless of stats, you qualify. If a premed squad mate qualifies? So do you.

Say you dropped hot, dealt 600 damage and died. Well your damage compared to time survived was pretty good, so you qualify.

Dropped in an area where no one is around? If you cover map distance and explore, you didn't camp, so you're likely to qualify if you get in just one fight.

This makes people actually try to get better in the game to get in the good player queue. Better choices of weapons, engagements, no camping.
