My mom's birthday is coming up, and I'm thinking of buying DE for her during the steam sale. We haven't seen each other in 2 years cause we live on different continents and work/money/corona kept getting between us. But we used to play AOE a lot against each other when I was a kid, so I thought it would be fun to reconnect in this way while still in lockdown.
But I want to buy her something extra with it too. Preferably an engaging single player rts / city builder available on steam. She used to play Dune II and later Anno 1602 a lot. But Dune doesn't have any recent remakes and Anno 1800 isn't available on steam.
Sorry that this is off topic but I feel like you guys are most likely to get the 'feel' of the game I'm looking for. Oh, and not StarCraft, that's not her jam.
TLDR: looking for a rts/city builder, ideal for single player, with the feel of oldschool AOE2, Anno and Dune. Not SC.
Edit: thanks for the great suggestions guys! I'm currently considering Offworld Trading Company and Banished. But I'm also beginning to think she might like one of the Assassin's Creed games. She loves nice graphics and history and exploring.
