Hi,
New player here, I don't really play 1v1, and my fav civs I've tried so far have been Mayan/Brit and then any civ with access to bombard cannons. I was wondering what the best civ is that can use an army of BBC, some archers, and something to defend the BBC (whether that's hand cannoneers, pikemen/halberd, something else).
From my research it seems that the options that stood out were Persian, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Spanish.
What would be the best choice (for team games or free for all, and a lot of games against AI?)
I have a hard time managing economy and doing raiding / cavalry stuff right now so I enjoyed the Portuguese game I played where I just made bombard cannon and hand cannoneers in front of them to defend, but I understand Portuguese might be less competitive for example.
Edit:
just tried as teuts and made some teutonic knights, bbc, and onager. faced off against a cav ai and had a hard time attacking him without shooting my own stuff. definitely needed more halb and less teutonic knights, and probably more onager and less bbc.
but it wasn't as fun as hand cannoneers bbc.
