so this is my first post here sorry for lack of understanding about anything. I live in Alberta, Canada and was hired on through a government adjacent career counseling program for context.
So I work at a chain restaurant and ive been having consistent issues with a particular manager, its an issue of being asked to stay late like 2-5 mins before the end of my shift, and more accurately it's being ordered to stay not asked, I have tried to be reasonable and simply requested a bit more notice as I have things I need to attend to outside of work and almost always have a ride waiting who also has things to do. I have so far been completely stone-walled with any request ive made for accommodation and am really unsure if I have any recourse should something happen, I have been told directly by both the front and back of house management that the "schedule is just a guideline" or that it's for managers to determine who to let go home first not as a firm rule of who stays until what time, all of which to me sounds illegal.
I cant find a very clear answer to my concerns through normal use of google so ive decided to post here and see about getting some input, all help is much appreciated!!
