Why are we so attached to the 8 hour work day?
Post Body

I’m literally sitting here with 3 more hours to go in my work day, suffering from bad cramps, with NOTHING to do. Sure I could work on something that doesn’t need to be complete until next month. But even that would take me an hour or less. If I left now the drive home that is typically 1hr could be cut down to 40 minutes or less. But I can’t because I’m being paid by the hour. I leave now, I leave a sour taste in my boss’s mouth and come up 3 hours short on my paycheck.

I just don’t understand why as a society we’re ok with this? I’m literally sat here trying to think of something that looks productive so that my coworker doesn’t snitch on me to my bosses. I AM working I have WORKED but my job (and most office jobs tbh) could be VERY part time.
