I recently interviewed with a company with the help of a friend who put in a good word and pushed my resume where I was denied the job in the final interview. Couple of questions. Is it common for interviewers to do deep dive questioning into mental and physical health? I had mentioned due to some spacing in between jobs that I had been focusing on my mental health and working on some physical health without giving any details then to be questioned deeper into it. I also had a weird question from one of the interviewers (it was a 3 person panel) if I would punch my friend in the face. I kind of laughed at this when he posed the question because due to my friends sense of humor I thought it was just a question to break the ice. Of course I answered well no, you'd have to truly deserved it or done something bad in my eyes to be punched in the face and then I jokingly said I'd maybe punch him in the arm randomly which I would never actually do but I thought it was some sort of joke I was missing. They even asked it while laughing. I think these two questions ended up with them making the decision of not hiring me which has me dumbfounded because I still ultimately qualified for the job, had experience and had enough technical knowledge to start this base job position. The job was for an assembly position building parts for flow and pressure meters. It would of been a great job and one I could of really grown in.
