It's insulting
Post Body

I work for a large general contractor in Canada, however I'm looking for new opportunities currently as I'm 100% fed up with the expected 10hr day and the workload of legitimately 2-3 people.

85% of the posting I come across are advertising wages that were bad even 5 years ago. One company, where my friend works actually, is looking for someone. Their advertised salary is below the poverty line... For an experienced, designated, professional... So I applied! And when I get the interview I'm going to ask for more than double what they put on the posting, then ideally explain to them that the salary they're offering is legitimately insulting to anyone looking (including new grads)

I can't stand how so many companies feel paying bottom of the barrel wages is going to get them people, let alone good people.

Though, these are the same companies claiming labour shortages and they "can't find good people".
