Be married to someone with medical benefits.
Without that my wife would be on her way to death, probably.
She developed a chronic illness, and couldn’t keep teaching in the inner city school. She tried, but she literally couldn’t walk.
Doctors couldn’t come up with a diagnosis for nearly two years.
These days, she’s running her own business from home (content creation, SEO, she has all the work she wants and it’s the perfect career if you’re super smart and more talented than me )
But her treatments cost… $60 thousand a month. (Fuck the pharmacy company?). Most insurance plans don’t even cover it.
A UNION literally saved her life. Where would I be without high quality medical benefits? Where would I be without emergency medical leave to take care a spouse?
Where would our kids be?
She’s diagnosed, getting treatment and some benefits from the teachers disability fund she paid into, working , and regaining functionality. But I do think how easy it would be for her to be trapped with no hope
