2 Weeks Notice is a Courtesy, not a Requirement and in My Case, a very Bad Idea
Post Body

This is sorta long so be prepared.

I started my job back in September 2019. Got promoted within 5 months of being there. I worked HARD. Put in the hours, covered shifts went above and beyond. I got praised in my new position for cleaning it up and actually making it functional. (BTW the whole 2 years, I worked 2 positions at this place at the same time, but was only paid for one).

The work conditions are shit. Mold (black too) on the ceiling, holes in the ceiling and on the ground. Mice infestation, no working heaters for winter (we had to share a space heater). There are no benefits for the high stress job. There are no bonuses. You get 8 vacation days a year that you use as sick days too. There is NO BENEFIT working there. I only started working there because I was desperate for a job so I could have roof over my head.

The management is an absolute joke. The boss would make comments about my body (my ass or what I "like"). He's been sued before for sexual harassment and lost. The manager is a joke. She is SHADY. She is condescending, rude and inappropriate. She likes to "test" her employees by treating them like shit to see of they can handle the high stress there. FYI, she is the high stress. It's a very unprofessional place to work.

I did the courteous thing and put in my 2 weeks on Monday. I have a job lined up that'll pay more with benefits. She didn't even open my letter, she threw it to the side and shamed me. Told me I was unprofessional for looking for employment elsewhere "on my time off" (like...what??). She then goes on to try and guilt me for leaving, telling me I'm putting them in a bind and that this isn't okay (we've been short staffed since i started). She then kept asking about my new employment and when I wouldn't answer, she asked "why are you being so secretive". I left and went to continue my work.

The rest of the day, she kept walking by my office to check on me. At one point she came by to say she's "worried about my intentions" and said she's been watching me in the camera all day and saw that I would text. She asked me who I was texting. I was appalled by this and almost rescended my resignation from 2 weeks to that day.

I decided to go in today. Maybe it would be different. I trained someone to sorta help with my workload. After he left I did my usual work and kept to myself. Every time I got up to file something or go to the bathroom, she'd walk around the office. At the end of the day, she left early. I was off clock and up front talking with some fellow employees.

Now, mind you, these employees know how bad the treatment is there. It's toxic. Theyre treated just as bad if not worse. We get yelled at almost daily or shamed for mistakes. Regardless, we were talking about my partners job and my manager then walks in and lurks in the back (I assume to see if we were talking about her or the job).

She leaves and then we do talk about the environment. Now there are cameras but no audio recordings. The only thing mentioned about the job was my 2 weeks notice, how she treated me in front of others yesterday, and how she blatantly belittled a coworker in front of everyone. (Coworker wanted my position, she was told she wasn't good enough in front of people).

Well, my manager comes storming back into the building yelling at me that I'm fired and to pack my shit. She "escorted" me (she wasnt physical but my coworkers thought she was because of how aggressive she got with me and how close she got to me) to my office and had me grab my stuff. Then yelled "keep talking shit. I'm standing right here. Want to say anything else to them. I won't have you here bringing down morale. This is why I was worried about you putting in your 2 weeks. Dont say anything now that I'm here"

All this in my face and in front of others. I'm silent mostly but I do laugh a small bit because of the shock of this reaction. My coworkers mouths are dropped and one has a panic attack. She walks me to the front and yells "byeee, thanks so muuuuch" and slams the door.

Well now I'm done. I start my job in 3 weeks and plan to report the building to OSHA and I want to report her behavior too, just not sure how. (The owner won't care, he owns other stuff she helps run). Can't wait to start my new job and if in the future, I'm asked why I was fired, I have proof of my resignation and being fired for no reason.

This is Texas, US btw. Once my new job is started, I'll update this with the name of the company and even add how they rip customers off by upcharging prices and adjusting work times so the customer can pay more.
