Quit my job to have the holidays off.
Post Body

For years, I’ve worked weekend, holidays, funerals, weddings and more. Been married 3 1/2 years now, this year was the first year I didn’t work Christmas. I quit my job a week before Christmas, and had already been talking to a potential employer who said I wouldn’t start till after the first of the year. I was so ecstatic. I got to sit at home with my wife and kids, watch them open their presents in person, saw their little smiles and saw my wife in a way I never have before. The new job, a beer truck driver, is a four day work week with salary, benefits, vacation, and more. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Calm environment, I’ve met everybody I’ll be working with (I know half of them outside of work, small town) and I get along with all of them. I can basically pick my route and time. I’m only 25, but honestly, I feel like I’ve worked a lifetime already. I always did manual labor and hard work, whether it was ranching, truck driving, oilfield, or factory work. I’ve had a ton of jobs because I fuckin hated them all, and this is the first time I’ve ever gotten a job where I feel like I can finally get ahead and enjoy life a little. I’ll not work my life away like my dad did, I’ll not put any company over my own life. I did it.
