I quit, now Boss has blocked my number when it came to discussing final pay.
Post Body

I’ve made a post on here before about grappling with quitting, and I did yesterday, and it felt awesome. Immediately literal metric tons of weight off of my mental health. However, I was immediately met with a barrage of texts and phone calls, verbally abusing me for quitting. He told me he needed my hours and my new mailing address. I told him that the mailing address he has is fine (it’s a PO Box), because I don’t want this guy to know where I live. That’s how nuts he is.

Anyways, afterwards he lectured me on how I did something so disrespectful, and asked me for a reason on why I quit. I told him that it was personal, and I will tell who I want to tell. And then he tried to give me the rigamarole on how he could force me to work 2 weeks if he felt like it, and I told him that my state is an at will state and that’s literally not a thing. He continued to badger me for a reason as to why I quit, and I refused to give him one.

He couldn’t comprehend why I wouldn’t do it, and after his speech he said “there was no apology attached to anything I just said”. And I said, “oh me neither. I texted [Coworker] and [Coworker 2] and I apologized to them but I felt no need to do so to you.” And he hung up on me, I texted him back written notice telling him that I did NOT approved of a mailed check and would pick mine up on Wednesday. My normally blue iMessage texts went green, followed by radio silence.

The text from the my state law is as follows; “the employer shall pay or make available at the usual place of payment all wages then due the employee by the earlier of the next regularly scheduled payday or within ten (10) days of such layoff or termination”. My boss always writes us our checks on every other Wednesday. It is the “regularly scheduled payday”, and at the place of work as a physical check would be “the usual pace of payment”, correct? Would I be in the right to show up to my former place of work tomorrow expecting a check, and if one is not provided, could I file a claim with my state’s DOL?

I just want to be done with this place, fellas. I knew they’d pull some shit like this and this is why it took so long for me to leave. If I hear from him I am communicating in text exclusively, and since my state is a one party state, I will be recording phone calls as well.
