The other day I went by this local donut place that normally is open till the evening. They changed their hours to a strange schedule and blamed it on the “labor shortage.” I wrote CS a letter and basically said that maybe they should try paying their staff better, that it’s not a shortage so much as people are now realizing their worth & that at almost $20 for a dozen donuts they should have no problem paying their staff a living wage so that they have workers.
Am I the only one that gets annoyed with business calling this situation a “labor shortage?” I for one have no problem paying an extra dollar or two for goods that I want if it means that there’s not only a person behind the counter but they’re getting paid what they deserve.
Another part of it that annoys me is they put up a coupon for the place on our local Groupon knowing that they don’t have the staff. It’s like please come in and do business here, we’re almost never open now but please come in. I woulda gone even without the Groupon but still.
