I came to a realization yesterday while watching Christmas movies from the 90s. In every family movie from my childhood, the antagonist was a father who worked too much. No wonder us 80s kids grew up and decided to fight the status quo! We were explicitly taught, by the boomers who wrote these movies (in a moment of self-awareness we never saw again) that it is bad to work long hours and miss out on time with our families! Jingle all the way The Santa clause Hook Liar liar Casper Etc, etc
