Let's start way back in the beginning. I was hired on at a hotel about 14 months ago. At the time, I worked for a General Manager that we'll call Craig. Craig seemed a little carefree, and I mistakenly thought nothing of it. I did however note that put of the 2 week training period standardized by the brand, (a big one mind you) I got 3 days of training. Thankfully, this wasn't my first rodeo with hotels. As time went on, the rumor mill (perpetuated by an entire department) had gone NUTS. Craig was (allegedly) sleeping with the Front Desk Supervisor, and one of the Front Desk Agents. It was wild, going to meeting after meeting wherein this dude tried to defend himself. It was pretty cringeworthy. In this time-frame, the night auditor got caught smoking weed in the parking lot. Of course he resigned to avoid the termination. So I took over the audit. The whole time,, the rumors got worse and worse.. Eventually, both the Agent, and The supervisor quit without notice, after nearly coming to blows in the lobby. Fast forward a few weeks, I get asked to take the supervisor position. This huge for me, I'd never been promoted before, and it seemed from several sources that I was only going further forward. Eventually, the rumor mill blows up, as for once, something ACTUALLY got found out that was true. Craig had been hitting on guests. I figured corporate would handle that, as I didn't want to lose my job by accusing Craig with no evidence. We had hired in 2 people since the last 2 quit, and one night I get a call from my new auditor. Craig had abused the fact she was on new medication and coerced her to his room for a massage. She noped out when she caught his election in her back and called me. I came up there in a fury. I rescued her, and had him work the shift. She begged me not to call corporate, as this town is known for victim blaming. She quit, and I kept my mouth shut. It wasn't long after that he was sent on a corporate trip to another hotel to fire everyone as it had sold. Thing is, he KEPT going on more trips, vacation, sick leave, another corporate trip, MORE vacation. I hadnt been trained any further than Front desk agent, was barely cobbling together some idea of what I should be doing as supervisor, and then I was told I'm in charge of everything for 4 and a half months. Another front desk worker quit, wouldn't tell me why. Guests started commenting on how much safer they felt now that Craig had been gone for a while. Turns out, after investigating he'd been sexually harassing Guests. Asking for sexual favors for "free parking" (we don't charge) and guaranteed room service. Then I asked directly if the former employee left because of Craig. He was harassing her for nudes. I called corporate, as I couldn't stifle this anymore. He got canned. I got promises of Assistant General Manager, pay increases, etc... Everyone who worked with me told me to apply for GM. I did, thinking "No way." And the temp manager that they brought in to get us back on track (Craig had run us nearly to closing our doors for good.) Applied as well and got the job. I was happy with it, I felt I needed more training with managerial needs to fit the role anyway. One day I reported a housekeeper who refused to clean stayover rooms. Only check outs. The new GM's response was I needed to take 20 steps back. I was also told that I should've asked her for permission to apply as GM even though she wasn't our GM officially at the time. Since then, I've had all my authority (even over the front desk) stripped from me. I'm technically the supervisor, but no one is allowed to report to me. No one communicates with me. And I've felt targeted for months. I have 3 kids, just had to buy a car, as the old one died. And I've never wanted to quit a job in the middle of a shift so bad in my life. Just feels hopeless.
UPDATE: 2 hours ago, I found the promised AGM position posted to the company website. Posted 9 days ago.
