I've been working at a place for almost 2 months now. Everyone else there has been there for 4 years. We were talking about the U.S and wages.
S1: A coworker in his 20's thats married and has been working there for 4 years
S2: A coworker that's been working there since the 1990's and one of the managers there.

Me: I'm not gonna lie. I can't live off 300 dollars a week man
Both coworkers started laughing at me
S1: 300 a week? What do you need more for? You don't pay no bills, you still live with your parents, you don't even have a car.

Me: How am I gonna try to get a car or save up to leave my parents home with this minimum wage job. I know you don't expect me to work here for years and stay at 300. Don't you make like 700 a week.
S2: That's because he was a team player and committed to the workplace. Whenever we called him on a day off he came in, whenever we needed him to work UOT(Unpaid Overtime) he gladly stayed to help. I remember back when I was a teen I had to work three jobs to support myself, my wife and her kid.

Me: I don't think working 3 jobs just to support your family sounds like something I wanna do.
Both the coworkers laughed at me again

S1: It's because your still young you just don't understand.
Me: Besides the FOH(Front of house) people make even less then me and they live off tips.(The FOH people have also been there for years and still make shit pay)
S1: Well if they don't like the pay they can always leave and find a better job.
S2: You're generation is ruining this world. In my generation we didn't have all this g** and t**** stuff but right after the 2000's that's when the g** and all this LGBTQ shit started. (Yes he really did say this. The conversation before this was about that but I'm not going to get into this)

Me: I think its your generations fault. Too many old people in power. Why do we make people retire at old ages due to being unfit to work but we have so many old people in power.
S2: That's just how it's always been. Young people like you wouldn't understand the world anyways.

After this the managers boss came in and we just returned to work.
