Little story of why/how I quit my last job.
Post Body

My old boss XXXX of XXXXX Independent School District was the worst human being I’ve ever come into contact with. Within the first few months of being newly hired he made it clear how he felt about his hard working employees. Within the first 3 months of working as a groundskeeper for the school district I personally heard him talk shit about every single one of his employees. From, “He’s a fucking joke…” to “He’s a a fucking clown…” “He’s such a momma’s boy…” “He’s not worth a shit.”

All three crews consisting of about 4 workers each witnessed him telling a coworker to, “Shut the fuck up!” while working in front of XXXXX high school. Told his boss I was going to file a complaint with HR. He said I had to send it through him first and if it was, “Worthy enough of being sent to HR” he would send it through. Funny enough, nothing come of that.

A new position opened within the school district and I applied for it. The decent thing to do is send your current boss an email to let them know as a heads up so they won’t be blindsided if they were to be contacted right? Well, indeed that’s what I did.

2 weeks go by and he finally calls me into his office to talk about it.

Well, I guess I worded the email a little too eloquently for someone who, “only cuts grass for a living.”

I come in and he asks me to close the door. He looks a little pissed off per usual. He asks me to take a seat and as I’m sitting I notice he has my email printed and is holding it in his hand.

He hands me my email, looks me dead in the eyes and asks, “Do you write like this?”

I ask, “What do you mean?” He repeats himself.

“I’m not sure what you’re asking me.” I responded.

“Do you usually write like this?” He asks again.

I finally start to catch on and ask him, “Wait, do you not think I wrote this email myself?”

He says, “I majored in English in college and just had a funny feeling. For the 4 years you’ve worked here I’ve never heard you speak like this.”

This grown man turned into the Dean Of Students and questioned the eligibility and authenticity of a simply worded email letting him know I’m applying for other jobs within the district. That was the most disrespectful thing I have ever witnessed or had happened to me.

It what world would our conversations as a groundskeeper/maintenance supervisor would I need to speak in such professional way?

So eventually when I got hired out of the district I quit without a 2 weeks notice. Man doesn’t deserve even that little amount of respect.

Every other supervisor / worker in a leadership role in the maintenance department was a joy to work with and I was impressed with their professionalism daily
