Yesterday was the second time in the past month that our company cancelled OT requirements because we were meeting Govât regulations. For background I work in public utilities so weâre constantly in the race against call caps and meeting customer demand against what the state says we need to do. Youâd think, âOh that means theyâre figuring things outâ right? Wrong.
As a solid chunk of us are âcontract to hireâ, they instead made a wave of calls an hour after the shift ended and fired a bunch of people. I guess if they arenât overworking us, they arenât working us hard enough.
This is all while weekly preaching that people need to take care of their physical and mental health, but not giving people time off because theyâre still âin trainingâ (those people have been worked like theyâre on the floor for the past month, with training suspended).
