Got told to return to my table after vomiting and telling my boss I need to go to urgent care
Post Body

So my industry sucks in general this time of year, (im a casino worker) people who never come are there they don't tip and management schedules copious amounts of mandatory OT. All adding us making less money.

In addition to that we have a "no fault" points system in which there is never a valid excuse for you to miss work short of government mandated ones like fmla or bereavement. (Actually not even sure on Bereavement) and holidays incur double points if you call off.

Well due to a bout with Covid and massive knee troubles all year I have been riding that line and going to work when I shouldn't be just because I can't afford to lose this job. Like Last night where I had vertigo nausea and the start of a lovely ear infection. So Im at the table with the world spinning, and had already told my boss I needed to go home ASAP that I was sick and I need to be out of there.

An hour later no end in sight. No communication I get my first break and seek out my manager on my break time telling her I need medical attention after puking my guts out. She tells me "well we're not closing tables on New Years" and I let her know I'd be contacting HR about denying me medical help as well as state labor boards. Her boss gets wind of this and finally sends me home 20 minutes later.

I then have to go to the ER because all urgent cares are now closed in our city. And incur a hefty bill just to be able to prove I went so I won't get fired.

Yay. Capitalism.
