Team? What fucking team?
Post Body

So I work for a big IT company. My team does pre-sales technical work. While we are not officially part of the sales team, we work exclusively with them.

The company has the equivalent of a "Bezos" and there is the "Bezos Award" that goes to one account a year for Customer Excellence. A trophy, an award ceremony at HQ, and a dinner with the current CEO and "Bezos". Our team is specifically called out twice for work we did for the account that earned us sales and less tangible things like technical eminence with the client. We are getting work that went to AWS just a few months ago because we are seen as more innovative than them.

My team? Jack shit. Somehow "team" means 50 awards, despite there being 75 or so people dedicated to the account.

My guys get Jack Shit. I am 5 years from retirement and can pull the ripcord at any time with no worries. The young guys on my team could really use the boost on their resumes and for their careers if they want to pursue some of the higher technical management slots. Even the 30 something could use the boost when the inevitable layoffs come.

But no, we are fucked over, no lube at all. BOHICA

(Several of those awarded have publicly come out and said they don't want it because it did not include the whole team. The Account Director is planning on holding an event for all of us, like at Top Golf or a NASCAR day at the raceway, and a dinner.. where ever we want. NOT PIZZA. )
