It occurred to me that those rich people probably paid much less in taxes compared to the average Joe, yet got 3 national agencies to go looking for them.
Post Body

My wife made me realize something about that submarine with those rich people in it that didn't even occur to me until last night. So supposedly the US, French and the Canadian agencies were trying desperately to look for that submarine, right?

Then, as I was just reading stuff about the incident, I read a post in a thread about a guy that was evacuated from another country because of a natural disaster and had to sign something from the government saying they eventually had to pay them off for the rescue at some point.

Then it occurred to me that it's possible these rich guys probably paid much less in taxes (probably didn't even pay any taxes at all) over so many years and still got military agencies to go and look for them from tax dollars that were paid for by the working class, even though their chance at survival was zero.

I'm not an expert or anything but a quick Google search came up with this article about the search and rescue: https://en.as.com/latest_news/missing-titan-submarine-how-much-does-the-search-and-rescue-mission-cost-and-whos-paying-for-it-n/

"Over $6,500,000 spent searching for Titan submersible

With all this, the total sum so far is well in excess of six and a half million dollars spent. To date, no one knows whether it will be the taxpayers of the countries involved, the affected ones themselves, or some insurance consortium that will bear the brunt of the cost."
