Am I crazy to consider leaving after this stunt?
Post Body

So at the beginning of the year we had an official schedule of events going to be going on for the entire year (I work at a business/conference center). Anyway my best friend got engaged last year and told me that he wanted me to be his best man but not to worry on the traditional best man things because he knew I had a busy schedule. Anyway flash forward to 3 months later (this would be in February) and he gave me the details on when and where he wants to do his bachelor party (it’s across the country). I look at my schedule and it’s a few weeks before his wedding and it’s the same exact weekend that my job is hosting a training seminar of new recruits (roughly 180 people). So what did I do? I put in a formal request to be off for that weekend because I am technically my friend groups designated driver. Anyway I’ve asked HR multiple times on the status of my off request from February to just this last week, and I was told that they will notify me when it has been approved or declined. Today I got told that my request has been denied and the bachelor party is in just a few days. When I told my boss that I put in a request 4 months ago he said “You should have already have known we were going to be busy today”. When I told him the reason I was going to be gone he flat out asked me “Can’t you go at night and come back in the mornings?”. When I told him that the party was going to be on the other side of the country he then proceeded to say “You can just take a flight there and get back here by lunch time each day”. I then told him that he was crazy just to propose that incompetent idea considering how high plane tickets are and how much time would be spent on the plane.
