We see a lot of right wing stuff saying « people are staying at their parents house » I just thought that for 20-30 years, bigger was always better. We made big suburbs with giant garages, each child had a big room and a children’s bathroom, maybe even split between boys and girls ( I grew up in a trailer, but people I know had all of this) so basically, the realesate sold the middle class way bigger houses than they need. If all the kids leave, the giant house becomes empty and un used. Therefore, rent is rising steadily on indépendant housing ( which as not been built for decades ) while giant suburb houses are empty. They should not be blaming the youth, but the real estate market which pushed cheap non necessary space on the middle class from 20-30 years ago.
