I have a best friend who is on par with me regarding antinatalism and it is just the best thing in the world.
Post Body

Let me just start off by saying, I love the memes on this subreddit. They are amazing and keep doing what y’all are doing.

Now, I love my best friend and always have and I think one of the reasons that is so true is that when I’m having a bad day she’ll say “Well, at least we can look forward to the inevitable sweet release of death.”

We grew up in such similar households and with such similar parents that she just absolutely 100% GETS IT!

We have so many conversations about the unfairness and catastrophic consequences of literally just being alive on a day to day basis and we have always, always, seen eye to eye.

It’s great to be able to talk intellectually with someone who knows that life is futile. Not in a depressing way, not in an “I want to kill myself” way. Just pure, unadulterated logical discussion about what a shit hand we have all been dealt.

She is on a mission to save the world and I couldn’t be more proud; doesn’t want kids ever (of course), helping impoverished communities working an NGO job (and she could be working at a bank with a master’s in Economics but she chooses not to) - she’s constantly checking me on the fact that LIFE IS QUITE SHITE but where you can make a difference in the here and now, do.

I hope that everyone on this sub finds a person who doesn’t judge or ridicule or start wringing their hands at the fact that they are antinatalist.

This sub is a good example of how we can find solace in each other and that there is a support community for people like us who have “controversial opinions”.

I find hope to be one of humanity’s greatest flaws but simultaneously I am glad that it is something I can experience because it takes that niggling chunk of fear of death straight out of me when I remember - I am not alone and this train of thought is not warped or wrong.

If only everyone could think the way we do - what a utopia!

Just wanted to share my two cents.
