I understand that with fires such as these, they can be rapidly moving and change directions quickly because of the winds and conditions but it just seems like there is a very high number of deaths associated with these fires. Everyone knows where these fires are and if they are nearby.
Is it lack of appropriate evacuations? Is it people not wanting to evacuate until the last second or ignoring evacuation recommendations? Is it rapid change of the fire direction? A combination of all of the above? Just looking for some insight from someone maybe in the area.
The loss of property and destruction is terrible to hear by itself but the loss of life on top of it all is heartbreaking.
