No trees being rendered?

Hello there! I just saw Anno 1800 being on sale on steam, and was reminded that I own it, so I wanted to jump into it again. Downloaded it and started it up with no problem.
Until I got into the game, and saw no trees being rendered. They're still there, but I can't see them.
I've fiddled with the settings, but it didn't help. So I came here, hoping some of you might be able to help?
