About to start watching Naruto (followed by Shippuden) for the first time. Is the filler worth watching?

Title is pretty self explanatory lol. I’ve found a few guides online for what episodes to cut out, but after asking a few friends the opinion is pretty split on whether or not it’s “worth” watching the filler episodes.
