Is it safe to use Animixplay without a VPN?

Been using Animix for a wonderfully long time, but always wondered if I actually needed to keep my VPN on. I remember having Centurylink take down our internet once due to downloading a movie, and now I’ve been worried about going to any sites without a VPN. So, simple question, can I use Animixplay (or any streaming site for that matter) without worrying about Cox internet swooping on in like the rock from Japan Sinks?
