Hello, and welcome to the UK anime news roundup for September 2018. It's another low news month, but I think we do have enough to make it worth going through with the announcement that My Hero Academia will be coming to the UK. Before I dive in, a quick note that I'll be attending Scotland Loves Anime in Edinburgh from October 19th - 21st, so feel free to let me know if you would like to say hi! Now, lets dive in!
Home Video & Streaming News
Animax UK
- We open this month with a goodbye to Animax UK, the streaming service owned by Sony. Animax had pretty much fallen out of the market over the last few years, having been pushed out of simulcasting and with a lacklustre back catalogue. Now, with Sony taking over Funimation, Animax UK is finally closing it's doors on October 15th. If you've ever had an account with them, make sure to check your email, as their last email announcing their closure contains a promo code for a free month of Funimation membership, so there's a good opportunity to give the service a try if you feel like it there!
Anime Limited
- Anime Limited will be hosting an exhibition titled "The Works of Mamoru Hosoda" at Noho Studios near Oxford Circus, London running Saturday 13th October - Sat 20th. The exhibition will feature storyboards and artworks from Hosodas films, and will be selling merchandise available for the first time in the UK. Entry is free, so be sure to go along and take a look.
- AL are currently offering an early bird offer for the Collectors Edition set of March comes in like a Lion Season 1 Part 1 until October 11th. The set includes an artbook, as well as an A2 poster exclusive to the Anime Limited webshop. The offer price is £34.99, and you can pick it up here if you're interested.
- Hibiki Yoshizaki, a Studio Khara staff member well known for directing the Animator Expo short ME!ME!ME!, as who has also worked on The Dragon Denitst and Evangelion 3.0 will be ALs guest of honor at MCM London Comic-con. He will be attending a panel at 2PM on Saturday 27th October, and there will also be signing sessions across the rest of the weekend. There will also be an exhibiton featuring the ME!ME!ME! short and various artwork associated with at at the con as well. The exhibition will be age restricted to over 18s, and ID is required, but it is free to attend.
- Anime Limited will be releasing standard edition Blu-ray sets of Gundam: Reconguista in G, Junjo Romantica Season 1 and Season 2, Love Live! Sunshine Season 1 and Lucky Star.
Manga UK
