Hello there /r/Anime! Today I bring you good news, because starting in the first week of January I will be hosting a new monthly show on the subreddit for us all to enjoy, called the /r/Anime roast! Every month, I will set a category, and people will nominate one of their favorite things of that category in Anime to get roasted! You can join in by submitting your favorites, or roast other people that have subjected themselves to the vicious people of /r/Anime!
What is a roast?
"Roasting" is a harmless yet harsh way to humorously criticize something or someone. It's usually done in a way that makes fun of it, criticizes it or even "insults" it in a friendly way!
What makes a good roast?
A good roast is a short and witty reply at the expense of the mentioned subject. It's a comment that will "burn" the subject and hates on or insults the show, but doesn't leave any lasting harm or hate. It's a comment that both the haters and lovers of the subject can laugh about and is closer to a joke than an insult.
An example of a good roast would be someone roasting Rem by saying "Even depressed NEETs aren't interested in her.". It's a witty response that while hurtful, isn't mean spirited.
To put it into pictures, a good roast is something that makes you feel like
at the same time!
Rules
You can post as many characters as you like to get roasted, as long as they're in an individual comment.
All roasts have to be about the submission, NOT the person posting them. Also try to keep the roasts in good taste, and while they may be harsh or upsetting, don't make them offensive, racist, or anything among those lines.
If you want to roast people you have to make a submission yourself too! This way we'll have a good amount of submissions to roast, and it'll feel fairer if you'll have to make yourself a target too if you want to roast people.
Do NOT start a discussion! Roasts are one sided, meaning that you leave your submission to be roasted, and not to start a discussion. Don't start typing comments with counterarguments to defend your submission. Comments on comments are allowed only by other redditors who want to add content to the roast.
Keep your submissions short, the length of roasts doesn't matter though. Don't submit anything that has already been submitted
Only nominate things that you like yourself! So don't submit something you don't like because you want to see it roasted!
With that, I'll see you in a few days! For now, I'll announce the first category for January 2017: Character Carnage!. The first edition will be all about your favorite characters, so think of roasts, or characters that you dare to see roasted, and I'll see you in January for the first edition of the /r/Anime roast!
EDIT: The first roast will start at January 3rd at 20:00 CET!
