How close together are your top 2 Anime in terms of how much you love them?

So, I have found there's two(-ish) kinds of people: The people whose #1 Anime stands gloriously above all others and is king without any competition, and the type of person whose top 3, top 5 or even top 10 are pretty interchangeable and are all very closely knit together, and don't have a solidly defined #1.
So, is your #1 well above the rest, and what makes it so much better than the second and third? Or is it very close to the #2 or even #3 , and would you consider your #1 and #2 (almost) equal?
