About three weeks ago I started making a list of my favorite Anime OP from best to worst. I went through all the shows on my list and listened to each OP, and picked all the ones that I liked and put them in this list.
It was quite an interesting process overall that took quite a while, but when it got really great was when I got to the OP of one of my first Anime I have ever watched: Naruto.
Most of the OP in Naruto had either been ones that I were already very familiar with and were on my music playlist for years, and most others were ones that I didn't care about and usually skipped while watching the show. But one of the OP I had completely forgotten about, and I had forgotten how much I used to love that OP: The sixth opening, No boy No cry.
I hadn't heard it in almost 4 years yet I still could sing along to it. It was quite a surreal experience to hear that OP again after having completely forgotten about it, yet still know it so well. It's not nearly one of my favorite OP in Anime, but at that time it was. At that very moment when hearing it again there was a voice in the back of my head saying: "You know, Naruto was actually something quite special."
I had ignored Naruto as an Anime mostly and forgotten mostly everything about it, and it was only at a 7.1 at the time, but after going through every OP of the show and seeing those characters again, I couldn't help but put it up to an 8.0. I loved Naruto at the time when watching it, and even though it wasn't even that long ago I had completely forgotten how much I actually loved it, and now I can say I love it again. It might not be the most deep or well-written of shows, but it doesn't have to be. it's fun, it's happy, it's Naruto. This huge nostalgia bomb brought back the nostalgia bias, and Naruto has returned to me as one of those shows that makes me smile whenever I see it. (the first season that is).
So, what was your biggest Anime nostalgia bomb?
