New to Anime, and this subreddit. What should I make my top priority to watch?

My friend and I recently binge watched Attack on Titan, and we really got into it, so we moved on to Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann. I was curious to know what anime movies/shows are considered the best, or to be the pinnacle of the genre. Also, what should I know about anime in general? Thanks!
