I was watching a couple of videos earlier today about a couple of animation pilots, the trouble many shows and their creators are having with companies such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney/DisneyXD, the state of animation on Youtube (and the site's ever-changing algorithm); etc... Generally gloomy stuff for any indie creator trying to make it.
That brings me to my point and question: Is there a Youtube-like site for animation? Much more ease of access than Vimeo and Dailymotion, and definitely more animation-focused than either them or Youtube. If not, why? And how do you think one could go about making such a site and/or keeping it up? Also, do you think it's possible an existing site could perhaps split their format a little and host animation alongside whatever else they might have going for them? (some potential candidates could be HiveWorks, Tapas, gaming websites, fiction websites etc...)
(PS: VRV, I believe, doesn't exactly count because it's not really easy for people outside the states to access).
TL;DR - How plausible is a Youtube for animation? What are the pros and cons of splitting such a concept on another media focused site (comics/books/games)? And what challenges would both things bring and/or fix?
