Nicotine/Acetylcholine often act as a neuromodulator, influencing neurotransmitters release.
Given that nicotine is a full agonist which saturates most nicotinic receptors (a4b2 ones) and this lead to desensitization upregulation what would be its effects on anhedonia/reward pathway especially?
nAChRs are implicated in modulation of gaba/glutamate in nucleus accumbens as far as I know which would mess with dopamine release - what would be the implication of this desensitization in everday life?
